History The mission of the Big River Economic and Agricultural Development Alliance (BREADA, bred-uh) is to build a healthy and strong local food system; to increase sustainability of independent local farmers, fishers and food producers; and to foster stewardship of land and community through public markets. The current special projects of BREADA include the Red Stick Farmers Market and Main Street Market. BREADA is the Louisiana regional coordinator for Buy Fresh Buy Local.
Big River Economic & Agricultural Development Alliance (BREADA) was founded in June 1996.
The values of our first efforts over ten years ago still hold true today: - Sustainability of small, family farms through direct sales at Farmers Markets - Stewardship of land and community - Access to local foods for everyone no matter what their income level - Provide a public marketplace to connect urban consumers and local farmers
